Historical Cryptids: Beast of Gevaudan and Washington’s Eagle
The History Guy podcast features two stories of historical cryptids. Between 1764 and 1767 a beast terrorized southern France, attacking grown men in a large area, and killed between 60 and 100 people. It is a story of mystery, culture, and a mysterious beast. Second is the story of Washington’s Eagle, an eagle bigger than either the bald or the gold eagle, first described by legendary ornithologist John James Audubon – but then lost to history. Both mysterious and captivating creatures are history that deserves to be remembered.
