USS Minneapolis

On the night of November 30th, a Japanese force of destroyers moved in, with a daring plan meant to minimize risk to the Japanese ships. They were met by the US ships of Task Force 67, led by the Flagship USS Minneapolis. It became, as one naval officer would later say, the “crucible in which the very nature of the US Navy and its weapons was tested.”
